Australian motorsport legend Allan Moffat has died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Moffat died surrounded by loved ones on Saturday. He was 86.
Born in Canada, Moffat is best known for winning Bathurst four times, as well as winning the Australian Touring Car Championships four times.
He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2019.
“It is with deep sadness that the Moffat family announces the passing of Allan Moffat OBE, who died peacefully at 11:05 this morning, surrounded by his loved ones, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease,” his family said in a statement.
