Ahead of the 2026 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Congress has formed a five-member committee to hold formal talks with its ally DMK on seat-sharing. The committee has been set up under the guidance of party president Mallikarjun Kharge and will lead discussions between the two parties on the alliance framework.

Girish Chodankar, Congress in-charge for Tamil Nadu–Puducherry, has been appointed as the committee chairman. In addition, TNCC president K. Selvaperrunthagai, Congress Legislative Party leader S. Rajesh Kumar, and two other members are part of the committee. TNCC made the official announcement on Saturday.
