A Catholic priest with the Diocese of Baton Rouge died Saturday after having taken ill while visiting family in India, according St. George Catholic Church. He was 60 years old.

Father Nutan Sylvester Minj served in several parishes within the Diocese of Baton Rouge after coming to the area in 2010. His first assignment was at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville with Father Eric Gyan, and his latest was with St. George Catholic Church.

His funeral mass will be celebrated in India, but there will also be a memorial service in Baton Rouge, according to a social media post from the church written by Father Paul Yi.
