Homeowners are being urged to stop pouring hot water down their drains this winter as they could be doing more harm than good.
It comes as temperatures continue to drop across the UK with warnings of snow and ice in several places.
And keeping pipes clear during the winter months can lead to problems in the future, specialists at Plumbworld have said.

The firm cautions that the issue becomes more critical in winter, when pipes are already under increased strain due to colder temperatures and heightened indoor water usage.
