A jury acquitted former New York State Trooper Christopher Baldner of murder and reckless endangerment charges in the death of 11-year-old Monica Goods of Brooklyn on Nov. 20.
But on Nov. 21, the jury told Ulster County Court Judge Bryan Rounds that they were deadlocked on the remaining charge of manslaughter.
Rounds declared a mistrial and dismissed the jury.
Prosecutors could decide to retry Baldner on the manslaughter charge.
Baldner was charged with second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter and first-degree reckless endangerment, all felonies, in connection with Goods' death in December 2020.
