MACON, Ga. — An apartment fire broke out in Macon Saturday evening, according to the Macon-Bibb Fire Department.

Captain Murray said that the call came in around 4:30 p.m. about a structure fire at the Bowman Apartments on Pierce Avenue.

Murray said that a two-story apartment had "heavy fire" on the front side near the roof and the attic.

He said that the apartment was vacant and no one was in there at the time of the fire.

There were no injuries reported from the fire, Murray said.

Murray said that there is no danger to surrounding apartments because of the fire.

He said that the roof was collapsed in the apartment of origin because of the fire.

Murray said that crews were able to extinguish the initial fire in about 30 minutes. He said that crews are still putting out hotspots.
