CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland native, Abdullah Mason defeated Sam Noakes by unanimous decision to win the WBO Lightweight World Title at ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
21-year-old Mason outpointed Noakes with scorecards of 117-111, 115-113 and 115-113 to capture the vacant belt.
Abdullah is Cleveland’s first world champion since Mickey Bey won the IBF Lightweight world title in 2014.
Mason improved his record to 20-0 with 17 knockouts, while Noakes dropped to 17-1 with 15 knockouts.
