PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Thousands of people gathered in Downtown Peoria on Saturday for the Riverfront’s annual end-of-season Thanksgiving market at the RiverPlex. The event marks the end of the harvest season.

Everything sold at the market was handmade or grown locally. Choices ranged from fresh vegetables and flowers, homemade pies, to handmade jewelry and soaps.

Customers could get their holiday shopping done while supporting central Illinois small businesses.

“It is so important to keep our dollars locally. These vendors are all within a 20-to-40-mile radius of the market, so the dollars you spend at this market truly impact our community,” said Sharon Gramm, who is executive director of the Peoria Riverfront Association.
