LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating a police shooting that took place in the Southside neighborhood late Saturday night.
The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. in the 100 block of East Southland Boulevard.
According to LMPD's preliminary investigation, officers were responding to a reported armed robbery in the area.
As officers made their way out to the scene, dispatch gave them a description of the suspect.
Once on scene, police said they located a person matching that description walking near the scene of the robbery.
When officers approached, the suspect reportedly fled and pulled out a handgun.
Two LMPD officers fired their weapons, striking the suspect.
The suspect was pronounced dead by paramedics.
