Next month will mark eight years since former Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier suffered a spinal injury on the football field during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

On Sunday's episode of 4 The Record, Shazier reflected on that moment and on the work The Ryan Shazier Fund for Spinal Rehabilitation is doing. Advertisement

"My life has always been against the odds," said Shazier, who said at one point he had only a 20% chance of walking again.

He defied those odds by walking out during the 2018 NFL Draft to announce Pittsburgh's selection that year.

In the years since, Shazier has authored the book Walking Miracle and focused on his fund.
