PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The City of Philadelphia has released road closures ahead of the Philadelphia Marathon this weekend.
More than 17,000 people are registered for the Philadelphia Marathon. Another 16,000 people are registered for the half-marathon and 5,000 more for the 8k.
The full marathon will be on Sunday. The half-marathon and 8K will be on Saturday.
Streets will be closed in many parts of the city beginning on Friday and lasting until Sunday.
Officials say traffic delays can be expected.
Drivers are advised to use alternative routes, avoid areas along the racecourse and allow for extra travel time during the race weekend.
Due to enhanced security around the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, parking and traffic regulations will be strictly enforced, city officials warn.
