MINNEAPOLIS — Since 1975, the Minneapolis American Indian Center has played a significant role as a central gathering space for the Twin Cities Native community.
In celebration of 50 years of service, Executive Director Mary LaGarde of the White Earth Nation stopped by KARE 11 on Sunday to share more about the resources available at the center.
LaGarde highlighted that the newly renovated building offers cultural, health, art, employment, youth, elder, family, and social services. According to the administration, the center serves about 10,000 people annually.
The space features the Gatherings Café, the Woodland Indian Craft Shop, and the Two Rivers Gallery. It also offers conference, meeting, and event rooms available for short-term use.
