Chambersburg house fire that led to evacuations was noticed by officer on patrol

A police officer on a routine patrol noticed a blaze that spread to multiple homes early Sunday morning in Chambersburg.

Franklin Fire Company said just after midnight, the officer reported a house fire in the 100 block of East Washington Street. The fire was on the outside of a two-story, wood-frame home.

Firefighters found multiple residents inside one of the homes and helped them evacuate.

There were no injuries reported in the fire.
