The eligibility rules to get the payments are quite specific
The DWP has issued a warning that millions of people will not qualify for a £25 payment. There are several DWP payments that go out during the colder months of the year, one of which is the Cold Weather Payment . These payments are triggered when temperatures in a particular region drop below zero, or are forecast to be below zero, across seven consecutive days.
The scheme runs from the start of November to the end of March of the following year, and the payments can be triggered several times in your area. You can get the cash payments if you claim certain benefits and meet other qualifying criteria. The payments are quite specific as to where they are triggered, as it depends on the forecast from the local weather station
