FORT SMITH -- A 22-year-old driver was arrested Saturday evening regarding a reckless driving incident in which a passenger thrown from a vehicle was hit and seriously injured, according to the Fort Smith Police Department.

Alex A. Valle, 22, of South 36th Street in Fort Smith was arrested just after 9 p.m. Saturday in connection with reckless driving, first offense; and leaving the scene of an accident with injury or death, according to Sebastian County Adult Detention Center records.

Valle posted $5,500 bond about three hours later on Sunday and was released from custody, the jail roster shows.

The incident occurred in the covered parking lot at Central Mall Fort Smith, 5111 Rogers Ave., police said in a news release.
