PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - The Mountain Valley Pipeline is set to expand through Pittsylvania County to North Carolina. Local landowners are worried about what it could mean for the environment.
“When you start digging down in there, you compromise the groundwater,” said Sherri Garner, Pittsylvania County resident. “How deep do they go? Does it compromise the wells of all the people around here?”
Those are just some of the questions Garner has about the proposed Mountain Valley Pipeline expansion that would run through her property in Chatham.
Although she signed a paid agreement with MVP five years ago, she says she was under the impression that her property would be condemned if she didn’t.
