ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - People in Roanoke came together over the weekend to make sure people in need will have a good meal for the holidays.

This is the 27th year that Roanoke City Career and Technical Education students partnered with the Roanoke Elks Lodge to provide food for families at Thanksgiving.

Students packed boxes of food for 123 families, giving back to their communities. Students from ROTEC and Daytec worked to make this event a success.

Other volunteers who helped were Elk Lodge members, student supervisors, and teachers. Trysh Brannan says everyone was excited to lend a hand.
