AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Aiken City Council unanimously approved a first reading to rezone land on the corner of Marlboro Street and Richland Avenue to downtown business zoning.
The currently wooded area adjacent to the Aiken Farmers Market has plans for a mixed-use development that would add housing and businesses to the city.

Catie Naranjo, president of Caradasa LLC, owns the land and says the company has been planning the development for some time.
“Even though we’ve been sitting on this land for a while, we thought that with that growth and maybe with the addition of ours, we could do something really meaningful,” Naranjo said.
