A part of Manchester's Christmas markets was brought to a standstill on Sunday evening when two notorious Travellers with a history of animosity were involved in a fight in front of shocked on-lookers.

The violence erupted in Exchange Square outside Selfridges at 4.35pm when hardman Dougie Joyce, recently released from prison, and his long-time foe Simon ‘Simey’ McGinley were involved in a scrap outside the high-end department store. The initial part of the scrap, captured on video and shared online, showed the pair fighting before falling to the ground.

Afterwards, Openshaw-raised businessman Joyce - an unlikely friend of Liz Truss - and McGinley each claimed victory and traded insults. In videos of the encounter in Exchange Square published online, Dougie Joyce faces up
