TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Business owners on Tucson's southside are expressing concern over an ongoing city construction project on South 12th Avenue, which they say has drastically reduced the amount of customers for months now.
“Not just sales from my restaurant, sales from all the businesses in 12th Avenue, they went down like crazy . . . Some of them are getting ready to close, so it’s getting bad,” Benjamin Galaz, the owner of BK Tacos, told News 4 Tucson.
Galaz hopes Tucson will increase advertising efforts to promote local businesses on 12th Avenue. There are now fewer construction signs along the roadway, he said, but people are not aware of that and are still avoiding the area.
