Newcastle United fans were today again being urged to congregate at Place de la Joilette as the official meeting point ahead of the Champions League clash in Marseille.

As fans arrived in Marseille last night, there was a mixed reception with some locals sharing a drink and singing a song with Newcastle fans, but also reports and video images of disturbances across the city - sparked by home fans looking for trouble.

Small pockets of Marseille fans were understood to have targeted travelling supporters.
