CHARLESTON — Gov. Patrick Morrisey and first lady Denise Morrisey will host the state’s Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. on the Capitol steps facing Kanawha Boulevard.

The event will feature a 25-foot spruce donated by Crickmer Farms, performances by the Capital High School band and choir and the River City Youth Ballet, and a livestream by West Virginia Public Broadcasting. Amanda Barren of WOWK will emcee.

Attendees are encouraged to bring toy and coat donations for the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia, which is seeking gifts for older children. Following the ceremony, guests may visit the West Virginia Culture Center for refreshments, photos with Santa and holiday activities.

Free parking will be available at the Capitol Complex garage and Laidley Field. Ka
