CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The autopsy for a 53-year-old Lost Creek woman has been completed and returned to the state, which in turn has shared it with the defense, clearing one of the final remaining hurdles prior to trial for the woman's son.
George Alexander Hoffman, 24, also of Lost Creek, has pleaded not guilty to murder in the March 13, 2024, homicide of Selestine Marie (Hoffman) Kunkel.
Hoffman was indicted in March on a murder charge, but his trial first was put on hold as the defense probed a potential insanity defense.
Then more recently, the trial got pushed back as Prosecutor Rachel Romano and defense attorney Ramsey Jorgensen agreed they'd need the autopsy in hand, and it hadn't been completed yet by the West Virginia Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
