STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - There is a heavy police presence in the area of 1801 Chandler Road in Statesboro following a shooting incident, according to a social media post made by Georgia Southern University.

Officials say the Statesboro Police Department is investigating an off campus shooting at Southern Villas.

Locals and residents are asked to avoid the area near the apartment complex and the area of Chandler Road and Plant Drive.

“The suspected shooter is a black male, wearing all black clothing, who fled the area on foot,” GA Southern writes. “The suspect left the area in a white Chevrolet Camaro. If you have any information on this incident, contact University Police at 912-478-5234.”
