CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The Missouri Department of Transportation gave an update on maintenance work on the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge.
According to the spokesperson for MoDOT’s Southeast District, work is nearly finished on the first stage of the project, except for some joint repair that was in addition to what was originally planned. This caused some delay and temporarily halted work.
They said they do not have a timeline on when the repairs will be finished.
According to MoDOT, work on the eastbound lanes is scheduled for March through November 2026.
They say the contractor has finished the deck overlay, LED lighting replacements, guardrail replacement and cable tie work on the westbound lanes, as well as some of the expansion joint replacements and repairs.
