FARGO — After a month-and-a-half process and several rounds of voting to narrow choices, the Fargo school board sided with nostalgia in its name selection for a brand new school.
A newly revealed favorite among some students, however, came in a close second.
The Board of Education met Tuesday, Nov. 25, to choose from five options that had been whittled down from a list of 29 names, a process that began in early October with a call for community input.
The new school, to be built on the site of Horace Mann Elementary once it is demolished next summer, will retain the name of Horace Mann.
That option received 28 votes Tuesday night using a forced matrix process where each name was put up against another name and board members chose between each pairing.
