NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - It’s not common to see a “first” in a rivalry that is more than a century old.
But Tennessee and Vanderbilt are writing a new chapter this Saturday in Knoxville.
Per the AP Poll, the No. 12 Commodores and No. 18 Volunteers will face off for the 119th edition of their rivalry, but the first in which both teams are nationally ranked.
Vanderbilt takes its 9-2 overall record into Neyland Stadium, seeking its first-ever ten-win season and its first win over the Vols since 2018.
More so, Clark Lea’s Commodores need the win against Tennessee to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive.
Meanwhile, the Volunteers are seeking their seventh-straight win over Vanderbilt, and their ninth win of the season.
