A man remains in a serious condition in hospital after a targeted 'stab attack' at a social club, as police appeal for information on two cars.

The incident took place inside Belle Vue Social Club, on Kendal Road in Hartlepool, on Sunday, November 23.

Police said a 22-year-old man was stabbed by a group of people in balaclavas, who had forced their way into the social club. He was taken to hospital and is in a serious, but not life-threatening condition.

It is believed the suspects fled the social club at 6.17pm in a green Volvo XC90, registration YH56 RXV, and a grey BMW. The model of the BMW is unknown but believed to be a saloon.

Both cars then left Hartlepool and are believed to have travelled to Southbank at high speed.
