COLUMBIA — The number of vacant teacher jobs in South Carolina public schools decreased significantly for the second straight year, according to a new report from the Winthrop University-based Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement.

School districts reported 706 empty jobs at the start of this school year, compared to a record-high 1,613 at the start of the 2023-24 year.
