MOUNT PLEASANT — If you spot a remote worker at a laptop in a newly opened Mount Pleasant coffee shop, it could very well be the owner.
Unlike high-turnover, bustling cafés, Washington Café, a second-floor sunny space right off Highway 17, offers outlets, fast Wi-Fi and a welcoming environment for all kinds of patrons: commuters, remote workers, students, artists and work groups.
Cainhoy native Peter Washington III opened the business in November, inspired by the coffee shops he frequented while working remotely in the Washington, D.C. area. He thought it would be a great fit for South Carolina’s largest town .
The shop features curated artwork, some for sale, DJs on some weekends and a menu serving Counter Culture Coffee and teas alongside light bites and Gullah-Geeche-inspired baked
