Joan Templeman, wife of Sir Richard Branson , has passed away at the age of 80. The Virgin Group founder announced her death yesterday (November 25) in a heartfelt social media post, describing Joan as his "best friend," "rock," "guiding light" and "world" after over 50 years together as partners and more than three decades of marriage. ‌

Although Joan and Richard spent their time between their private island - Necker Island - and London, it wasn't always Caribbean living for Joan, who had a humble upbringing in Scotland. The Scot was born and raised in Glasgow in 1945 to a working class family. ‌
