I love baseball’s offseason.
Not only do we have teams making moves, trying to either get better in the now or for the future, but there’s a ton of other stuff going on that we can discuss. Awards are being handed out, there’s the upcoming draft lottery, and then there’s perhaps the biggest thing of them all: voting for the Hall of Fame.
This year, in addition to the regular crop of candidates on the ballot for the Hall of Fame, the Hall is also taking a look at eight players in what it’s calling the “contemporary baseball player” era, which they’ve defined as those “whose most significant career impact was realized since 1980.”
There are eight candidates on this year’s era’s ballot, which is to be voted on by 16 people involved in the game on December 7, during the Winter Meetings. To
