BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (WNDU) - A small plane flipped during takeoff at Southwest Michigan Regional Airport on Wednesday morning, sending two people to the hospital with minor injuries.

The aircraft was taking off from the east side of the airport when it somehow flipped and ended up upside down.

Police say a pilot and another person were inside the plane when the incident occurred. Both were up and walking when emergency crews arrived at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Weather conditions, including wind, are being examined as a possible factor in the incident.

While on the scene of the crash, police say a second aircraft experienced a minor in-flight emergency, and units stood by to ensure its safe landing.
