CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Virginia State Police is investigating a crash involving a Safety Service Patrol (SSP) member, contracted by the Virginia Department of Transportation.
According to a release, the crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on I-95 North at the 85 mile marker. An SSP vehicle was wrapping up helping another vehicle on the left shoulder of the interstate and was trying to pull back into the left lane when it was hit by another vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the SSP vehicle was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SSP vehicle was not injured.
The crash is under investigation.
