CHILLICOTHE, Mo - The Chillicothe Fire Department extinguished a large brush fire last night.

Crews were dispatched just before 11 pm to a field in the 2100 block of Litton Road after high winds had caused a controlled burn on the property to spread. Firefighters used a foam mixture to extinguish trees in the pile. A total of four units used approximately 2,000 gallons and the landowner used his skid steer to move the pile around.

The fire was extinguished within an hour, and crews left the scene shortly after midnight. No injuries were reported.
