HAVERHILL, Mass. —

A 68-year-old man was struck and killed during a multi-vehicle crash in Haverhill, Massachusetts, on Tuesday night.

The collision occurred in the area of River Street near Hunter Avenue just before 8 p.m.

According to the Essex County District Attorney's office, a 2008 Volvo XC90 collided with the pedestrian.

During the crash, investigators say the Volvo was hit by a pickup truck and then collided with a third vehicle.

The pedestrian was transported to Merrimack Health Lawrence Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His identity is not being released at this time.

The driver of the Volvo and an infant passenger were transported to the hospital as a precaution.
