Dillard University is getting a big boost from a famous philanthropist as the campus receives a historic $19 million gift from the MacKenzie Scott Foundation.

The unrestricted donation constitutes the largest single contribution in the university's history. Dillard also received a gift of $5 million in 2020 from the foundation. Advertisement

The gift comes as part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to strengthening historically Black colleges and universities across the nation. In recent years, the MacKenzie Scott Foundation has invested in several HBCUs to support institutional sustainability, enhance student access, and expand academic and community-centered programming.
