Winnipeg police are investigating after partial human remains were discovered in a North End back lane over the weekend.
Officers were called to the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue on Nov. 23 at about 1:30 p.m., following a report of possible human remains. North District officers secured the scene, and the Winnipeg Police Service Forensic Identification Unit took custody of the material. An autopsy has since confirmed the remains are human.

The WPS Homicide Unit has opened a suspicious-death investigation. Police have not released any information about the identity of the deceased.
