FORT KNOX, Ky. — Lifeboat.
It’s the word military families at Fort Knox use to describe the Warrior Warehouse, a solider assistance program on post that evolved into a full-service food pantry during the historic, 43-day federal government shutdown.
"If we can be your lifeboat, let us be your lifeboat," volunteer Mollie McKenna said.
Now, the week of Thanksgiving, trunks full of everything from canned soups and vegetables to boxes of diapers arrive in droves.

The couple just received their long-awaited paycheck within days of the government reopening.
