The Chicago City Council has designated the Bankers Building, also known as the Clark Adams Building, as an official city landmark. The building, located at 105 W. Adams St., was designed by Burnham Brothers and completed in 1927. At 476 feet tall, it was the tallest structure in the financial district when it opened.

This designation supports Primera Group Inc.’s planned adaptive reuse project for the property. The $183.5 million project aims to convert about 400,000 square feet of office space into 400 mixed-income residences and commercial areas for neighborhood use. The initiative had previously received approval for $67.5 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) as part of the City’s Loop Revitalization Initiative.
