CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Linn County may soon have a new place to go for in-person early voting.

On Wednesday, the Linn County Board of Supervisors gave approval for an architecture firm to form a plan for a new election services building.

The proposed location is across the street from the Jean Oxley Public Service Center on 2nd Street Southwest in Cedar Rapids.

That land is already owned by the county.

The auditor’s office will pay the architecture firm to make the building plans.

The auditor said the building would provide needed storage for election equipment as well as providing a space that can handle the long lines of early voters.
