POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - On Wednesday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced $4 million to help improve water service for more than 10,000 homes in three communities in the state.
The project includes the expansion of a water treatment plant in Powell County.
The governor said $1.5 million will be committed to the Powell Co. Fiscal Court to help expand the Beech Fork Water Treatment Plant.
The plant currently processes two million gallons of water each day. The expansion would allow the plant to process three million gallons daily. The project would also make improvements to the raw water intake system and rehabilitate a water storage tank.
