LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Volunteers with the Fern Creek/Highview United Ministries distributed food to more than 200 people in need on Wednesday, ahead of Thanksgiving.
The event, which started at 10 a.m., had cars lining up in the parking lot at 7:30 a.m., and served families in less than two hours as volunteers carried boxes of Thanksgiving items to cars in chilly and windy conditions.
Duke McCluskey, a Saint Xavier High School junior, has volunteered for seven years. He said seeing people less fortunate motivates him to continue helping.
“Obviously, I go to a good school,” he pointed out. “And seeing all these people who are less fortunate than me, it makes me want to help out with them as much as I can and do whatever I can.”
