MILFORD. Iowa (KTIV) - Neighbors in this northwest Iowa community are coming together to make the holidays brighter for families in need through Milford’s annual Secret Santa program.
The program begins with families being nominated by community members who know they could benefit from extra holiday cheer. Volunteers personally reach out to each family to confirm they want to participate and gather wish lists for the children involved.
Organizers then match families with sponsors.
The program has seen a record number of families participate this year. Organizers say 100 kids were nominated for the program, and they have found sponsors for about half of the participants.
“We are looking for more local businesses and individuals to come in and sponsor the children,” said Larry Bertrand,
