COLUMBIA — A new Ameren Missouri rate structure for large load users aims to make advanced manufacturers and data centers pay their fair share — and the Missouri Public Service Commission approved the new structure a day before an Amazon data center project was announced in Montgomery County .
The new rate structure is designed to support the growth of electric customers who use high volumes of power, ensure fair cost distribution, and protect current customers from unfair expenses, according to a news release from the Public Service Commission.
The agreement aimed to align Ameren Missouri with Senate Bill 4, a sweeping utility bill that Gov. Mike Kehoe signed into law in April.
