PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) - November is coming to a close, but not before millions of people get into their favorite stores for Black Friday.

“Lot of people traveling to see their family members for the holidays, lot of traffic in the streets, lot of people shopping in our stores here in Laurel,” said Laurel Police Department Det. Isaac Allen.

LPD is gearing up for a rush of people at local favorites, like the Sawmill Square Mall.

Allen said customers can expect to see officers in and outside certain stores.

“We always have to plan accordingly for the holidays,” said Allen. “So, we have extra officers inside the stores for, obviously, the Black Friday deals going on.”

Allen said the responsibility of staying safe while shopping Friday will also fall upon shoppers.
