MARION COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon at Reagans Corner Convenience Store.

According to a release from MCSO, the incident left one dead and another wounded.

The shooting took place about 1 p.m. Wednesday at 640 U.S. 98 in the Kokomo community, MCSO said.

MCSO said Marion County deputies responded to the location following reports of gunfire inside the store.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Verkese Dezmond Conerly, 19, of Tylertown, Mississippi, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Conerly was treated at the scene by medical personnel and transported to a local hospital.

A second individual, Zamarkus Kentrell Brister, 22, of Foxworth, Mississippi, also was struck during the exchange of gunfire.
