LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Charities are relieved after a judge blocked an order from the Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Office to disable electronic pull-tab machines at charitable gaming organizations.
“It was a good win for us,” Shirley’s Way founder Mike Mulrooney said. “We were able to help get the games on across the state.”
That relief is temporary, however, as the organizations confront the broader situation created by the order.
Shirley’s Way is one of three organizations that filed a lawsuit against the Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Office, arguing that the order punishes victims rather than the scammers who used laminated bills and a string to trick machines into issuing credits.
