BATAVIA — Hundreds of GLOW-region residents are at risk of homelessness, as a federal program that supports nonprofits providing housing faces cuts of 70% or more.

In a press conference Wednesday morning at Independent Living of the Genesee Region, Sen. Chuck Schumer and leaders of area social services organizations decried the Trump administration’s decision to cut funding for the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s $3.3 billion Continuum of Care program, which provides funding to nonprofits and local governments to find housing for people experiencing homelessness.
