The Scottish SPCA are appealing for information after the burnt remains of a cat were discovered on an Edinburgh beach. The horrendous discovery was made by a member of the public who works for the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home and found the animal's body in the remains of a fire on the beach.

The cat was found completely burned and unrecognisable at around 7am on Tuesday, November 26. It is currently not known if the cat was already dead before being placed in the fire. The Scottish SPCA are trying to find a microchip to help identify the animal.

A Scottish SPCA Inspector said: “This is a very upsetting case and we are keen to establish what happened. At this stage we cannot confirm if the cat was dead or alive before being placed in the fire.
